Acting on Impulse
WEEKLY CLASSES

ONGOING CLASS
Richmond Shepard Theatre
309 E. 26th St. NYC 10010, (@ 2nd Ave)

Mondays: Jan 14, Jan 21, Jan 28, Feb 4, Feb 11

In NYC, Improv has come to mean Comedy. This is different. This is the most effective way of working on your acting skills though Improvisation. It's become the training ground for advanced actors who don't do Improv and advanced Improvisers who want more acting skills.

Improvisation more about creativity than cleverness. It's a tool rather then a show. It's more a journey then a destination.

WEEKS 1 & 2 - Focus, listening, impulses and playing the scene.
We start with sense memory warm-ups that will awaken your impulses.

WEEKS 2 & 3 - Scene Work and Character Work.
We explore knowing how to serve yourself, the scene, listening, playing with your partner and point of view. Learn to honor the surprising, creative impulses and characters that live within you.

WEEK 5 - Commitment to your point of view.
Filtering all information in the scene through your point of view. Without these tools, scenes often fall apart.

This workshop will encourage you to explore spontaneous choices and to confront individual sticking points. Acknowledging and addressing these will help free you in your work.

The Ongoing Class is only open to those who have done an Improvmania I and another workshop or to those who have studied privately with Seth Michael or Bryan.

Ongoing Class members have the first option to return for the next series of classes.

This is due to the high demand and our desire to cultivate advanced work in a strong ensemble based class.

Ongoing Class members receive discounts on workshop

"Specificity is one of the most effective tools in improvisation and easiest to do.
Specificity is bring details to your scene... not being specific is another result of fear."
--Mick Napier (Improvise. Scene from the inside out)
